Officials from the Abia State Ministry of Lands and Housing traveled to Lagos State to observe how land administration works in Africa’s fastest-growing city.

Led by Chaka Chukwumerije, the Abia State Commissioner for Lands and Housing, the delegation spent the day engaging with Lagos land officials and learning about technological systems used to manage land information efficiently.

The visit was arranged to help Abia improve its own land processes by adopting digital tools and best practices.

During the visit, the team met with Lagos State officials for discussions on land data systems. They were shown around key facilities including the Lagos Geographic Information System (GIS) Centre, the Land Digitisation Centre, the Lagos Land Archive, and the Electronic Physical Planning Centre.

The Abia team also visited the Lagos State Lands Bureau, where they spoke with senior officials to exchange insights on effective land management and administration.

Lagos has been expanding the use of digital platforms for land records and services. Last year, the state rolled out a digital house numbering and addressing initiative to support better service delivery, faster land transactions, and improved emergency response.
