Abia Governor Receives House Committee Praise for Healthcare Improvements

The House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Services has commended the Abia State Government for significant improvements recorded in the health sector under Governor Alex Otti’s administration.

The lawmakers gave the commendation during an oversight visit to Umuahia, where they assessed ongoing healthcare programmes and facilities across the state. They noted that recent reforms have led to better access to medical services, improved infrastructure and enhanced service delivery in public health institutions.

According to the committee, investments in primary healthcare centres, specialist hospitals and medical equipment have begun to yield positive results, including better maternal and child health outcomes. The committee also praised the state’s commitment to increased funding for healthcare, describing it as a crucial step toward building a sustainable health system.

Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to prioritise healthcare as a key pillar of development, stressing that quality medical services are essential to improving the wellbeing and productivity of citizens. He added that efforts were being intensified to attract skilled health professionals and strengthen health facilities across the state.

Health officials briefed the lawmakers on ongoing reforms, expressing optimism that continued support and collaboration would further improve healthcare delivery for residents of Abia State.
