Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has dissolved the entire political and traditional leadership structure of Amasiri Community in Afikpo Local Government Area following a deadly attack on Okporojo Village in Oso Edda Community, Edda Local Government Area.

The violent incident, which occurred on Thursday, reportedly claimed the lives of four people who were beheaded, while several houses and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed. The attack is linked to a long-standing boundary dispute between the two communities.

Governor Nwifuru announced the decision on Saturday during an on-the-spot assessment visit to Okporojo village, where he met with residents, community leaders, security agencies and government officials.

Suspected assailants from Amasiri have been blamed for the нападение, further worsening tensions over the unresolved boundary disagreement.

Visibly shaken by the brutality, the governor described the incident as “most unfortunate,” expressing shock that such extreme violence could occur in the state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, warning that no form of violence would be tolerated under any circumstances.

The Ebonyi State Government is expected to take further steps to restore peace and prevent future clashes in the affected areas.
