The Federal Government has announced that suspects arrested over the recent killings in Yelwata community, Benue State, will be arraigned in court on Monday.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the government said the suspects, who are strongly linked to the deadly attacks, will appear before Justice Joyce Abdul-Malik at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The planned arraignment follows what officials described as a thorough investigation carried out through close collaboration among security and investigative agencies, leading to the arrests.

The Office of the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice assured Nigerians that justice would be pursued diligently, stressing that the prosecution is meant to serve as a strong warning to anyone threatening the nation’s peace and security.

“The Federal Government is determined to ensure that those responsible for these heinous killings are held accountable in accordance with the law,” the statement said.

The AGF’s office also reaffirmed the commitment of the Tinubu administration to the protection of lives and property, noting that this remains a constitutional responsibility of government.

The statement was signed by Kamarudeen Ogundele, Special Adviser to the President on Communication and Publicity in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
