Nigerian artists were unable to claim any awards at the 2026 Grammy ceremony despite receiving multiple nominations across key categories.

Top acts such as Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, Ayra Starr and Omah Lay were all in contention but did not emerge as winners when the results were announced during the event in Los Angeles.

The Best African Music Performance award was claimed by South African singer Tyla, who earned another Grammy with her hit track, strengthening her growing international reputation. She edged out several Nigerian contenders in the category.

Nigeria also fell short in other global music categories where its nominees were considered strong challengers, as artists from other regions took home the prizes instead.

The outcome has sparked conversations among fans and industry watchers about the increasing global competition and the evolving landscape of African music recognition on the world stage.
