“Obi Calls for Immediate Security Overhaul After Kwara Massacre”

Peter Obi, former presidential candidate, has condemned the recent deadly attacks in Kwara State that claimed over 150 lives across Woro and Nuku villages. Describing the violence as a national tragedy, Obi extended condolences to the victims’ families and the state government.

Speaking on X, he highlighted the growing insecurity across Nigeria, noting that the scale of violence now surpasses what is seen in some conflict zones. Obi warned that urgent action is required to safeguard lives and property.

He called on federal and state authorities to take swift measures to restore peace, bring the perpetrators to justice, and reassure citizens of their safety. The attacks, carried out by armed gunmen, have sparked outrage and intensified criticism of the government’s handling of security issues.

In response, security forces were deployed to the affected areas to prevent further violence. Political leaders and civil society groups have also demanded stronger security measures and greater accountability.

The massacre marks one of the deadliest incidents in Kwara in recent years, reigniting fears about escalating violence across Nigeria’s North-Central region.
