The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has unveiled its preparations for two important competitions on the 2026 calendar, focusing on both women’s cricket and youth development.
After a year without competitive action, the Female Yellow Greens — Nigeria’s women’s national cricket team — are scheduled to regroup for a Women’s T20 International series this March. The tournament will provide the team with valuable match experience ahead of future international commitments.
In addition to the women’s event, the seventh edition of the National Under‑17 Championship is set to begin soon. Zonal qualifiers will run from February 10–23 across the country’s six geopolitical regions, giving young cricketers a platform to showcase their talents and earn recognition at higher levels of the sport.
Officials say both events are part of the federation’s broader plan to strengthen the development of cricket nationwide, ensuring a consistent pipeline of talent for both the women’s and youth national teams.
The NCF has expressed optimism that the tournaments will not only improve performance on the field but also raise the profile of cricket in Nigeria and inspire the next generation of players.
