Governor Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has reiterated his commitment to fast-tracking the Aba Commercial Smart City Project, signaling readiness to commence work once all conditions, including funding, are met. He emphasized that, in line with his administration’s approach, contractors must mobilize to the site before any formal flag-off to ensure continuous progress.
Speaking with promoters and partners of the project at his office, Governor Otti warned against halting work shortly after the launch, stressing the importance of sustained development from day one. While eager to see the project begin, he also offered flexibility to allow partners sufficient time to prepare for full-scale operations.
In related developments, the Governor announced plans to soon flag-off the construction of the Enyimba Hotel, Aba’s first-ever Five-Star hotel, being developed in collaboration with the international hospitality brand Radisson Blu. The project revives the decades-old, long-abandoned initiative started by the late Dr. Sam Mbakwe at Ogbor Hill, Aba.
Governor Otti confirmed that Radisson Blu has already begun on-site preparations, marking a significant milestone for the city’s tourism and hospitality sector.
The meeting included key government officials, such as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Bar. Ikechukwu Uwana (SAN), Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr. Mrs. Salome Obiukwu, and the Director-General of Public-Private-Partnership and Investment Promotion, Mr. Chinedum Chijioke, among other senior aides.
