Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced his administration’s commitment to partnering with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to create more opportunities for young people across the state. The collaboration focuses on a national youth empowerment initiative aimed at equipping graduates with practical skills and career pathways.
During discussions at the Government House in Umuahia, Governor Otti highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between academic training and real‑world job requirements. He emphasized that initiatives like the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme 2.0 complement Abia’s own youth-focused projects.
Otti also outlined key sectors for collaboration, including digital technology, creative industries, renewable energy, and leadership development. He cited state programs such as TechRise and the Abia Leadership Academy, which have provided hundreds of youths with essential skills and mentorship.
The governor called for stronger coordination between state and federal programs to maximize impact and urged government officials to work closely with the UNDP team to ensure sustainable employment and empowerment for Abia’s young population.
