Umuahia, Abia State – The Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North & South Federal Constituency, Chief Obi Aguocha, has issued a personal statement in response to recent developments following a press release by Chief Engr. Ako Obioma Akubaraoha of Umuokpara.
Chief Aguocha stated that he is a native of Okaiuga Nkwoegwu, Ohuhu, Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State. He emphasized that he is speaking in his private capacity as a friend and brother with close personal ties to the author and his immediate extended family, particularly regarding the issues raised.
He expressed deep concern over the matter currently generating public commentary and what he described as wrongly held perceptions, stressing that the situation is, in essence, a family issue between two highly respected Obioma brothers.
According to him, as a long-standing family friend, he has consistently and deliberately played a stabilizing role, encouraging restraint, dialogue, and a peaceful resolution. He maintained that conflicts within families are best resolved internally with wisdom rather than through public spectacle.
Chief Aguocha also extended sincere appreciation and gratitude to his numerous supporters, well-wishers, and stakeholders who stood firmly with him throughout the election and nine pre- and post-election court processes. He emphasized that he remains equally thankful to all contributors, regardless of the amount given — whether ₦1,500 (Late Ononogbu Agomuo Agwu “AKA Ohuhu first Son” or in the case of the Author ₦250,000 (Two hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira Only) “I wholeheartedly remain thankful” he said.
He noted that the election, which they collectively undertook and decisively won, was both arduous and financially demanding. He added that all those involved understand the depth of commitment required to contest and successfully defend the outcome of a Federal House of Representatives seat. “I’m grateful to my teeming supporters, stakeholders and well wishers who stood by me resolutely throughout the election and nine (9) pre/post election court processes” he reiterates.
He stated that, in all things, glory belongs to God alone, who crowned their efforts with success.
While acknowledging the existence of at least a partial channel of communication with the other party, he stressed that such communication must be responsibly and deliberately utilized. He noted that peace is neither accidental nor automatic but requires conscious effort, mutual respect, and the collective willingness of all parties to prioritize stability over pride.
Chief Aguocha expressed confidence that wisdom would prevail and concluded by invoking God’s blessings upon the great and discerning people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South Federal Constituency.
