President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to transforming Nigeria’s livestock industry by accelerating ranching initiatives and other agricultural reforms designed to reduce violent disputes between farmers and herders.

Speaking at the opening of a National Economic Council (NEC) conference in Abuja, Tinubu said that recommendations from the council are expected to produce tangible steps towards structured ranching, enhanced livestock investment, and expanded agricultural diversification.

The president emphasised that formalising the livestock value chain through ranches will not only help curb security challenges linked to rural conflicts but also strengthen the economy by generating jobs and boosting food production.

Earlier directives from Tinubu tasked Vice President Kashim Shettima and NEC members with outlining a roadmap for the reforms. The council also inaugurated a committee led by the Kebbi State governor to fast‑track the rehabilitation of grazing lands into modern ranches.

Tinubu stressed that improving livestock production and resolving these chronic clashes are integral to national stability and economic growth under his Renewed Hope Agenda.
