Tensions within the Labour Party have escalated as rival camps led by Senator Nenadi Usman and Barrister Julius Abure continue to dispute control of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja. Both sides accuse each other of forcefully entering the headquarters and seizing key assets.

The faction aligned with Senator Usman, recently recognised by a Federal High Court as the party’s interim leader, claims Abure and his supporters attacked the secretariat, intimidated staff, and removed sensitive documents and equipment. They have called on security agencies to intervene.

In response, the Abure camp denies the allegations, insisting that Usman’s team unlawfully took over the secretariat and replaced party materials with Usman’s images. They argue there was no official handover and maintain that the leadership issue remains unresolved.

The confrontation highlights the deepening leadership crisis within the party, as each faction continues to fight for legitimacy and control over party structures.
