Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to drive sustainable development across the state with the commissioning of four major projects in Anka Local Government Area.
According to a statement by his spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the projects inaugurated on Tuesday include the fully reconstructed and furnished Emir’s Palace, the commencement of work on the Anka–Abbare Road, a new Anka Local Government Secretariat, offices for the Hisbah and Community Protection Guards, and the reconstructed SAFE School in Anka.
Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal said the projects were part of his administration’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises to the people of Anka and Zamfara State at large.
“I am here in Anka to fulfil our campaign promises. The commissioning of the new palace for the Sarkin Zamfaran Anka and the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs concludes today’s activities,” he said.
The governor described the Anka–Abbare Road as a strategic route that would improve access to remote communities, stimulate economic activities, and generate broader developmental benefits for the area.
He also underscored the importance of providing a conducive working environment for civil servants, noting that the new local government secretariat and offices for the Hisbah and Community Protection Guards would enhance administrative efficiency and strengthen law and order.
On education, Lawal said rebuilding the SAFE School aligns with his administration’s commitment to creating a secure and supportive learning environment for students.
“Education remains the foundation of society. Our targeted actions are aimed at ensuring that students learn in a safe and secure atmosphere,” he added.
The governor further stated that the reconstruction of the Emir’s Palace reflects the government’s recognition of traditional institutions as custodians of culture and heritage. He emphasised the need to align development initiatives with cultural values and strengthen collaboration with traditional rulers.
Lawal disclosed that following project commissioning in Anka and Tsafe, similar exercises would soon take place in Kaura Namoda and Moriki. He added that projects in Bungudu, Bukkuyum and Zurmi are progressing steadily and are expected to be completed and inaugurated before the end of the year.
