Publisher and politician Dele Momodu has reacted to the ongoing custody dispute between Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and Sophia Momodu, assuring the public that efforts are being made privately to resolve the matter.

In a post shared on his Instagram page during a visit to Liberia, Momodu disclosed that several fans had reached out to him, urging him to intervene in the disagreement involving his niece and the singer.

According to him, he was in Liberia to sympathise with former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor over the loss of her son when he began receiving numerous messages about the situation.

“Since landing here, I have been inundated with messages from fans of David, and ladies who love @thesophiamomodu to bits,” he wrote, adding that a fashion designer had specifically appealed to him to help settle the dispute.

Momodu, however, reassured concerned followers that there was no need for alarm.

“Nothing to worry about. Everything is going to be alright… We are working behind the scenes. Please keep everyone in your prayers,” he stated.

His comments come amid the ongoing custody battle over Imade Adeleke, the daughter of Davido and Sophia Momodu.

The matter drew increased public attention earlier this month after Davido accused a lawyer of introducing sensitive issues during court proceedings. Shortly after, the singer announced on social media that he had decided to withdraw the custody case, clarifying that he had only sought joint custody of his daughter, not full custody.

In November 2025, Sophia Momodu publicly addressed the issue, stating that she had been Imade’s primary caregiver for the past five years. She said she had covered all of her daughter’s expenses except school fees, which were paid by the child’s paternal grandfather over the last three years.

She also stated that she had not received child support from Davido during that period but maintained that her daughter is well cared for and raised in a stable environment.

Born on May 14, 2015, Imade Adeleke has remained in the public spotlight, with both parents frequently sharing moments from her milestones and achievements.
