The National Union of Taraba State Students (NUTSS) has raised concerns over a reported incident in which a student at Taraba State University (TSU) was allegedly assaulted by a campus security officer. The union condemned the act as unacceptable and called for immediate action to ensure justice.
In a statement, the student body emphasized that incidents of violence on campus not only threaten student safety but also damage the university’s reputation. They urged the university management and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the matter.
NUTSS further highlighted the need for stronger protection measures for students and clearer enforcement of rules governing campus security personnel. The union warned that failure to address such issues could escalate tensions and create an unsafe learning environment.
The group concluded by stressing that all students should be able to pursue their education without fear of harassment or harm. They called on the university and government agencies to take decisive steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
