Delayed Deployment of Officials Slows Down Voting Process in FCT Polls

Voting in several parts of the Federal Capital Territory was thrown into disarray as residents reported delays caused by the late arrival of electoral officials and materials at polling units. Many voters who turned up early were left waiting for hours before the process could begin.

Across different area councils, frustrated citizens said the exercise failed to start at the scheduled time, with some polling stations yet to receive officials well into the morning. The delays disrupted the flow of accreditation and voting, forcing people to remain at polling units longer than expected.

Some voters expressed concern that the situation could discourage participation, noting that prolonged waiting times might push people to abandon the process altogether. Others, however, stayed back, determined to cast their votes despite the inconvenience.

The logistical setbacks come despite earlier assurances that materials and personnel would be deployed promptly to ensure a smooth process. The situation has raised fresh concerns about election planning and the need for better coordination in future exercises.
