Miyetti Allah Denounces Sanctions Threat, Insists It Has No Role in Violence

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria has strongly refuted claims tying it to violent incidents across parts of the country, saying such accusations are unfounded and damaging.

In a reaction to discussions in the United States about possible sanctions, the group said it should not be held responsible for crimes allegedly committed by unidentified individuals. According to its leadership, linking the association to insecurity misrepresents its role and undermines its efforts to promote peaceful coexistence.

The organisation stressed that its members, who are largely pastoralists, have frequently suffered attacks themselves and continue to face challenges related to safety and displacement. It added that it has repeatedly encouraged dialogue and lawful engagement to resolve conflicts involving herders and host communities.

While addressing the proposed foreign action, the association called on the Nigerian government to ensure fairness and resist external narratives it believes do not reflect realities on the ground. It maintained that any attempt to impose sanctions without proper investigation would be unjust and counterproductive.
