Senator Doyin Abati has called for a pastoral visit from Pope Leo to both the United States and Nigeria, saying such a trip would be a powerful source of spiritual encouragement for the faithful.

Abati made the appeal during a meeting with Catholic bishops, stressing that Nigeria is in need of prayers and moral guidance amid ongoing social and economic challenges. He suggested that a visit from the Pope could help foster unity and promote peace both within the country and among Nigerians abroad.

According to Abati, the presence of a global religious leader would uplift believers and reinforce shared values of compassion and resilience, particularly at a time when many are seeking hope and stability.

Church leaders welcomed the suggestion and acknowledged the importance of continued spiritual support for their communities. They expressed optimism that such a high‑profile visit could inspire deeper engagement and solidarity among Catholics in Nigeria and beyond.
