Lagos Implements Full Shutdown of Lekki–Ajah Expressway for Major Upgrades

The Lagos State Government has announced a full closure of the Lekki–Ajah Expressway to carry out major upgrades aimed at improving safety and traffic flow along the busy corridor. The closure affects the stretch from Admiralty Way Junction to Jubilee Bridge in Ajah.

Authorities explained that the total shutdown will allow workers to complete resurfacing, strengthen the road foundation, and upgrade critical junctions more efficiently. Partial lane closures were previously causing delays, but this measure is expected to shorten the overall construction period.

Motorists are advised to use alternative routes, including the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, while traffic officers are deployed to assist with diversions and manage congestion. The government has appealed to residents to plan their journeys carefully during the upgrade period.

This project forms part of Lagos State’s broader initiative to modernize its road infrastructure and enhance connectivity across key urban routes.
