The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to report any registration centres charging more than the approved fees. The board stressed that the official charges remain fixed and that any centre found overcharging would face strict penalties.

JAMB clarified that the registration fee has not increased and covers all necessary services, including the mock examination option. Candidates are advised to pay only the approved amounts at accredited centres and to refuse any requests for additional payments.

Parents and applicants were also cautioned to avoid unofficial agents and misleading claims that could lead to exploitation. The board emphasized that only accredited centres are authorized to collect fees and process registrations.

Anyone who has already paid more than the official rate is encouraged to submit credible evidence to JAMB for verification. The board promised swift action against centres violating the rules, reinforcing its commitment to fairness and transparency.

JAMB urged candidates to remain vigilant throughout the registration process, advising them to report irregularities immediately. By following the official guidelines, students can ensure a smooth and secure registration experience ahead of the UTME.
