Otti to Convene Major Economic Summit as Abia Targets Investor Confidence Boost

The Abia State Government has unveiled plans for a high-level economic forum aimed at strengthening ties with the private sector and accelerating development across the state.

Scheduled for March 5, 2026, the event will bring together business leaders, policymakers, and investors from different parts of the country to explore opportunities for growth and collaboration.

State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, made the announcement during a media briefing in Umuahia, noting that the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to building a more business-friendly environment.

He explained that the forum, to be led by Governor Alex Otti, will serve as a platform for open dialogue between government agencies and key players in the business community. Discussions are expected to focus on policies, investment prospects, and strategies to improve operational conditions for businesses in the state.

Also speaking, Chinedum Chijioke, who heads the state’s investment and public-private partnership office, said the gathering is designed to establish a structured engagement system between authorities and entrepreneurs.

He emphasized that economic progress largely depends on private sector participation, with government playing a supportive role by creating favorable conditions for businesses to thrive.

According to him, the forum will also give business operators an opportunity to contribute to policy development, raise concerns, and propose solutions to challenges affecting their operations.

Participation in the event will be based on registration and verification, with invitations extended to key industry stakeholders across various sectors.

Officials say the initiative marks a significant step toward strengthening investor confidence, encouraging collaboration, and positioning Abia as a competitive destination for business and economic expansion.
