Senator Natasha Akpoti‑Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has called for restraint and respectful dialogue in the ongoing dispute involving businesswoman Tracy Nicolas Ohiri and Nigeria’s Minister of Works, David Umahi, amid allegations that have drawn national attention.

In her statement, the senator emphasised that no individual should face intimidation or coercion when asserting their rights, stressing the importance of respecting the rule of law. She also highlighted the role of civic vigilance in ensuring fairness in democratic processes.

Akpoti‑Uduaghan encouraged both parties to engage in good‑faith dialogue to resolve their issues peacefully and indicated she plans to personally intervene once she returns to Abuja.

The controversy arose from Ohiri’s claims involving alleged unpaid campaign debts and accusations that the police were improperly involved — claims denied by Minister Umahi’s team, which maintained that the police acted within their mandate.

The senator’s statement reflects growing public concern about due process and accountability in politically charged conflicts.
