Prof. Iyabo Obasanjo Ogunlade, daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has thrown her weight behind the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, saying the changes have contributed to stabilising key aspects of Nigeria’s economy and laying groundwork for future growth.
Speaking at a media briefing in Abeokuta, she praised recent efforts to strengthen currency stability, improve security collaboration, and advance major infrastructure projects, including the ambitious Lagos‑Calabar Coastal road.
Obasanjo Ogunlade also formally unveiled her intention to contest the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, vowing to compete earnestly for her party’s ticket rather than simply paving the way for another candidate. She said she plans to build on gains in industrialisation, agricultural value chains, and tourism to expand economic opportunities across the state.
The former lawmaker outlined plans to prioritise technology education, job creation, and leveraging Ogun’s strategic location near Lagos and major ports to boost exports and local production.
Obasanjo Ogunlade reaffirmed her commitment to serve through the ruling party, emphasising that her choice reflects both her political alliances and confidence in the party’s direction under current national leadership.
