Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has expressed confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will secure victory in all elections in Borno State and across the country in 2027.

Speaking on Tuesday in Maiduguri during the party’s state congress, Zulum described the APC as the “workhorse” of Nigerian politics, noting that the party is strategically positioned to dominate the next general elections.

Addressing over a thousand delegates and party stakeholders at the event held at the defunct Kashim Ibrahim College of Education (KICE), the governor said the congress reflected unity within the party’s ranks in the state.

“Today’s elections have demonstrated that our party structure remains united. There are no divisions among our members,” Zulum stated, adding that new state and council executives emerged through a peaceful and transparent process.

A total of 1,560 delegates participated in the congress, which produced 38 executive committee members by consensus. The newly elected officials will manage the party’s affairs for the next four years. The exercise was chaired by Mr. Jones Erue.

Erue commended party stakeholders for embracing consensus, describing Borno as one of the most cohesive APC chapters nationwide.

Zulum also acknowledged the role of Vice President Kashim Shettima in laying a strong political foundation for the APC in the state. He congratulated the new executives and assured them of government support, while promising continued relevance for former party officials.

“All former executives, from state to ward level, will be integrated into the party structure as ex-officio members and assigned responsibilities in recognition of their contributions,” he said.

The governor stressed that party leadership would remain in capable hands, pledging steadfast guidance and success for the APC.

APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, explained that the adoption of consensus followed broad consultations and was in line with the party’s constitution.

On behalf of the new executives, State Chairman Hon. Bello Ayuba thanked the governor for his leadership and pledged to run the party’s affairs with transparency and accountability.

The congress drew prominent figures including former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Tahir Monguno, Senators Ali Ndume and Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN), former deputy governors, National Assembly members, state lawmakers, commissioners, party stakeholders, and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who monitored the exercise.
