The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) is set to auction 14,375 litres of smuggled petrol recently seized in Cross River State. The confiscated fuel, found hidden in illegal transport routes, will be sold off as part of efforts to curb the illicit fuel trade and promote transparency in customs operations.
Authorities emphasized that the move is part of a larger crackdown on fuel smuggling, which is costing the country significant revenue losses. The auction will be conducted in compliance with legal frameworks, ensuring that all interested buyers follow proper procedures.
Customs officers further highlighted that this operation is just one of many aimed at maintaining national security and preserving the integrity of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The proceeds from the auction will contribute to strengthening enforcement mechanisms and supporting ongoing anti-smuggling campaigns.
