Troops on a mission across parts of Anambra State have dismantled a number of alleged camps used by members of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed unit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN). The operation took place around the Gbadoanya area in Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area, on March 3 and 4.

According to the military, soldiers working with other security agencies and backed by the Nigerian Air Force moved through the camps and nearby forests, identifying and pulling down several hideouts. They seized various weapons, ammunition, and equipment while removing materials linked to explosive‑making.

In what the Army described as a major success, forces also uncovered and destroyed a fully operational facility believed to be used for building improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Machines, batteries, and parts thought to be for assembling bombs were among the items destroyed.

Recovered items from the raids included firearms, rifle magazines, locally made guns, and even cultural objects and paraphernalia. Flags reportedly linked to secessionist groups were removed and replaced with the Nigerian flag.

The military says the offensive is part of ongoing efforts to weaken separatist elements in the South‑East and restore stability to affected communities. Troops previously cleared other forest strongholds in the state and carried out operations in nearby locations with similar objectives.
