Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to women across the country to take a more active role in guiding young girls, particularly in fostering strong values and behavior. Speaking at an interfaith gathering in Abuja, she encouraged women to mentor at least one girl from a disadvantaged background and help her grow with confidence and character.
Tinubu highlighted the importance of teaching young women about personal presentation and self‑respect, saying that true beauty comes from within and should not be measured by revealing attire. She also mentioned that mentoring can take many forms — from moral support and encouragement to financial assistance like scholarships, aimed at helping girls succeed.
In her remarks, Tinubu further urged men to exercise self‑control in their reactions, suggesting that societal values depend on both genders setting positive examples for the younger generation.
