Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, on Tuesday welcomed a delegation from Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide during a high-level meeting focused on strengthening unity among the Igbo people and promoting regional cooperation. The visit took place in Umuahia and brought together senior government officials and leaders of the prominent socio-cultural organization.

The delegation represented the leadership of Ohanaeze under its President-General, John Azuta Mbata, and was led by the Deputy President-General, Okey Nwadinobi. Discussions during the meeting centered on building stronger ties between the Abia State Government and the organization to support the collective aspirations and development of the Igbo nation.

Governor Otti highlighted the importance of credible leadership within Igbo institutions, noting that organizations like Ohanaeze play a vital role in representing the interests of the region at the national level. He expressed confidence that the current leadership would continue to strengthen the voice of the Igbo people and promote unity across communities.

The governor also spoke about steps taken by his administration to support the activities of Ohanaeze within Abia State. According to him, the government has assisted in upgrading the organization’s facilities and addressing pending financial obligations, part of a broader effort to revive institutions that preserve cultural identity and promote community development.

Leaders of the delegation praised the governor for reforms taking place across the state, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, and education. They also shared plans to protect the Igbo language and culture, while encouraging closer cooperation among Southeast leaders to attract investment from Igbo entrepreneurs living abroad.
