Human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore has formally called on the Inspector‑General of Police, Tunji Disu, to initiate an urgent investigation into claims of illegal organ‑harvesting reportedly involving officers of the Anambra State Police Command. He also urged the authorities to ensure the immediate release of the whistleblower who brought the allegations to light.

Sowore expressed deep concern over the lack of transparency and action from law enforcement regarding these serious claims. He emphasized that addressing the allegations promptly is crucial to maintaining public confidence in the police force.

According to Sowore, the investigation should prioritize both uncovering any misconduct within the police command and safeguarding the rights of the whistleblower, whose detention has sparked widespread concern. He described the situation as a test of the new IGP’s commitment to accountability and justice.

The activist concluded by calling on the federal police leadership to handle the matter with urgency and professionalism. Swift and thorough action, he noted, is necessary to restore public trust and demonstrate the rule of law within the state.
