Early Monday morning, a fire erupted at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation in Abuja, causing severe traffic congestion around the Federal Secretariat. Commuters were forced to abandon their vehicles and continue on foot due to blocked roads.

The incident began around 8:00 a.m., with thick black smoke visible from the upper floors of Section C of the multi-storey building. Firefighters rushed to the scene to bring the blaze under control while security personnel redirected traffic.

Motorists reported being unable to access usual routes, leading to gridlock in nearby areas. Federal Road Safety Corps officers worked to manage the heavy traffic as emergency teams handled the situation.

Officials confirmed the fire was contained to one section of the building, and investigations are set to determine the cause once the area is fully secured. Staff and visitors evacuated safely during the response.
