The Rivers State House of Assembly has approved five of the commissioner nominees submitted for screening while declining to confirm four others.

Following deliberations by the lawmakers, Mr. Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr. Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart were granted approval to serve in the state executive council.

However, four nominees failed to secure the backing of the Assembly during the confirmation process. They include Professor Datonye Alasia, Mrs Charity Deemua, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye TKD Amachree.

The screening and confirmation exercise forms part of the Assembly’s oversight responsibility to assess nominees before they assume positions as commissioners in the state government.
