The Social Democratic Party (SDP) convened its 2026 National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, where party leaders reviewed major decisions taken over the past four years and formally endorsed several resolutions guiding the party’s activities.
During the meeting, the committee confirmed a series of decisions made between March 2022 and March 2026, including the official record of proceedings from the March 9, 2026 session.
Party leaders also endorsed appointments made to fill vacant positions within both the National Working Committee and the National Executive Committee, ensuring that leadership structures remain functional.
In preparation for upcoming political activities, the committee approved plans for the party’s 2026/2027 primaries, congresses, national convention, and other organisational programmes.
Members further adopted a zoning arrangement covering the offices of the party’s National Chairman and its presidential candidate. To accommodate this framework, amendments were made to the party’s 2022 constitution.
The committee also confirmed disciplinary actions taken within the party over the period under review, including suspensions, expulsions, and the acceptance of resignations from some officials.
Additionally, the National Executive Committee authorised the National Working Committee to make adjustments within the party’s leadership structure at the national, zonal, and state levels when necessary.
The meeting concluded with a call to strengthen the operations of party organs across all tiers in order to enhance efficiency and improve internal administration.
