The Abia State Road Traffic and Safety Management Agency has announced plans to strengthen traffic management operations with the acquisition of new equipment and the development of a modern monitoring facility.

The agency has invited qualified contractors and suppliers to submit bids for the supply of a heavy-duty towing truck and the construction and installation of a fully equipped traffic control room.

Officials said the project is part of broader efforts to improve road safety enforcement and enhance real-time monitoring of traffic activities across the state.

According to the agency, the proposed control room will feature modern surveillance technology including smart cameras, multi-screen computer systems, internet connectivity, and other digital tools designed to support effective traffic coordination and incident response.

Prospective bidders are expected to meet several requirements before their submissions can be considered. These include proof of company registration with the Abia State Government, a certificate of incorporation from the Corporate Affairs Commission, valid tax clearance documents covering the past three years, and a bank reference.

Applicants are also required to submit a detailed company profile, evidence of experience handling similar projects, and a clearly priced quotation for the proposed work.

The agency stated that completed tender documents must be submitted in sealed envelopes bearing the appropriate tender description and reference number.

All bids are to be delivered to the agency’s headquarters located on Factory Road in Umuahia before the deadline scheduled for March 18, 2026.

Officials noted that tenders will be opened immediately after the submission deadline in the presence of interested bidders.

The agency added that it retains the right to approve or decline any submission as it considers appropriate.
