Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Igboho has voiced strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term, saying opponents former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar and former presidential candidate Peter Obi should not be part of the political conversation in the South‑West. Igboho insisted that Tinubu should be re‑elected in 2027 and even suggested that supporters might encourage him to continue beyond two terms. He warned that efforts by Atiku and Obi to campaign in Yoruba areas would be unwelcome and dismissed them as unsuitable alternatives for national leadership.

His comments have sparked controversy, with some groups distancing themselves from his endorsement and rejecting the idea of prioritizing partisan politics over regional interests.

As Nigeria approaches the 2027 elections, where Tinubu seeks re‑election and the opposition builds new alliances, debates are intensifying over who is best suited to lead the country next.

The discourse highlights deepening divisions in political strategies and the ongoing tension between regional loyalty and national ambition.
