The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that Abuja remains secure despite claims of rising banditry. He emphasized that the city’s security is being effectively managed by law enforcement agencies, and there is no evidence of widespread armed attacks in the capital.

During an inspection of ongoing urban development projects, Wike acknowledged that minor criminal incidents occur from time to time, as in any major city. However, he stressed that these events are isolated and do not indicate a general insecurity problem in Abuja.

The minister also warned against spreading exaggerated reports of criminal activity, noting that misinformation could unnecessarily alarm residents. He encouraged the public to rely on official updates from security agencies rather than rumors or social media speculation.

Wike concluded by reaffirming the commitment of the police, military, and other security services to maintaining peace in the capital. He stated that while Abuja, like all large cities, faces some crime, the overall situation remains stable and under control.
