Hon. Amobi Godwin Ogah, representative of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency, has addressed recent claims surrounding a dispute over mining activities in Imobi Autonomous Community, Uturu, Abia State, describing some reports as misleading and urging the public to remain calm.
According to the statement from his team, Hon. Ogah’s involvement began after receiving a petition on March 6, 2026, from the community’s traditional ruler, Eze Sir S. C. Chukwuemeka. The petition highlighted concerns about alleged harassment, intimidation, and attempts to take control of land thought to contain valuable mineral resources, requesting legislative intervention to safeguard community rights.
The lawmaker’s office stressed that presenting petitions from constituents is a constitutional duty and denied any wrongdoing. It also warned that rising tensions over land ownership and mining rights could worsen if not carefully managed.
Hon. Ogah’s team emphasized that all actions taken were legal and aimed at ensuring proper investigation and protection of the Imobi community’s interests. Residents were urged to maintain peace and allow authorities to handle the matter according to due process.
The development highlights ongoing debates in Abia State over land use, mining activities, and the need for transparency, with the lawmaker reaffirming his commitment to fair representation, adherence to the law, and the long-term well-being of his constituents.
