The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has assured that all corps members are fully covered by insurance throughout their one-year service period.
He emphasized that the insurance package includes both health and life coverage, ensuring that corps members can access medical care and receive financial support in serious situations.
The protection begins from the moment call-up letters are issued, even before corps members travel to their postings. In addition to standard health insurance, the NYSC can intervene in emergencies not covered by the scheme.
General Nafiu highlighted past cases where substantial funds were used to assist corps members who suffered severe injuries and urged media houses to verify information before publication to prevent the spread of inaccurate reports.
Overall, the NYSC Director-General reinforced that corps members are entitled to welfare protection during their service year, as part of efforts to ensure their safety and well-being.
