A South Australian candidate of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party, Aoi Baxter, is wanted in the United Kingdom after failing to appear in court over an alleged sexual offence.

UK authorities confirmed that a warrant has been issued for Mr Baxter’s arrest after he did not attend a scheduled court hearing. A representative of His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service said the warrant was issued without bail and urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to assist authorities.

Mr Baxter, also known as Trent Baxter, was charged in September 2023 with allegedly sexually touching a woman without her consent. The charge falls under the UK’s Sexual Offences Act and relates to an incident reported to have occurred in 2022.

The politician, who is contesting the Adelaide seat in South Australia, did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

In a statement, One Nation said it only became aware of the issue through media reports and claimed the matter had not been disclosed by the candidate.

“To the best of our understanding, Mr Baxter may have a warrant in the United Kingdom for failing to appear at a court hearing,” the party said. “One Nation will cooperate fully with law enforcement regarding this matter.”

The party added that a nationwide police check conducted on Mr Baxter prior to his endorsement did not reveal any concerns.

Following the revelations, Mr Baxter’s profile was removed from the party’s website.

Business records show Mr Baxter legally changed his name from Trent Baxter to Aoi Scott Baxter in July 2025. He has operated several businesses in Australia and the UK, including The Pressery Limited and Parcel Agency.

UK records list his birth date as December 1994, with one of his businesses registered to a pub address in Milnthorpe, in north-west England. A manager at the pub confirmed he was a former employee and said she was aware of the allegations, though she claimed the incident did not occur at that location.

Local UK media previously reported that Mr Baxter, then aged 28, was due to appear before Barrow Magistrates’ Court in September 2023 over the alleged offence.

The case has added controversy to Mr Baxter’s candidacy, as he has only recently relocated to Adelaide ahead of the state election.

One Nation had earlier defended him against criticism, describing attacks on the candidate as politically motivated. However, the party now says it is seeking further information as the matter unfolds.
