Hundreds of young Nigerians gathered outside the Lagos State House of Assembly on Sunday to demand action and justice following disturbing reports of sexual violence linked to a community event in Ozoro, Delta State.

The demonstrators, many of whom travelled from different parts of the country, called on state and national authorities to ensure that victims of the alleged attacks receive protection and that those responsible are held accountable.

Organised under the banner of grassroots campaign groups opposed to gender‑based violence, the crowd carried placards and chanted slogans demanding swift legal action and stronger safeguards for women and girls.

Speakers at the event condemned what they described as “a culture of impunity” surrounding sexual assault and urged lawmakers to strengthen laws and enforcement mechanisms so that survivors can access justice without fear of stigma or dismissal.

Delta State’s police command has publicly pledged to investigate the allegations and ensure all credible information leads to arrests and prosecution, while calling for calm and cooperation with ongoing inquiries.
