Nigerian Army donates learning materials to Anambra school

Pupils and teachers of Ogwumabiri Primary School in Lilu community, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, were filled with joy as the Nigerian Army donated educational materials to support teaching and learning.

The outreach programme featured the distribution of school bags and exercise books, aimed at enhancing academic development and encouraging pupils to excel in their studies.

Representing the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Enugu, Oluremi Fadairo, Brigadier-General S. A. Jimoh said the initiative was part of the Army’s efforts to strengthen civil-military relations while promoting education in host communities.

He noted that the gesture underscores the Army’s commitment to fostering inclusion and motivating young learners to pursue academic excellence. According to him, education remains a vital tool for social transformation, economic growth, and national development.

Jimoh also urged both pupils and teachers to make good use of the materials to improve academic performance. He reassured the community of the Army’s continued dedication to ensuring safety and security in the area.

In her remarks, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 82 Division, Lt.-Col. Olabisi Ayeni, highlighted the role of peace in achieving sustainable development. She described children as the future of society and encouraged residents who had relocated due to insecurity to return, noting that normalcy is gradually being restored.

Responding on behalf of the school, the Head Teacher, Mrs. Grace Nnubia, expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Army and pledged to utilise the materials effectively to maintain high academic standards.

The event also drew the participation of senior military officers, including the Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support), Onitsha, Colonel Madaki Yakubu, alongside other officers from the 82 Division. Community members commended the Army for its support and efforts in restoring peace and social life in the area.
