Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the foremost Igbo socio‑cultural organization, has praised President Bola Tinubu for the completion of the Enugu‑Onitsha Highway, a crucial route that had suffered decades of neglect. The group described the project as a fulfillment of long-standing promises that previous administrations failed to deliver.
The highway, which connects major commercial hubs in the Southeast, has historically been in poor condition, causing delays, accidents, and economic losses for traders and commuters. Its rehabilitation is seen as a significant improvement for the movement of goods and passengers.
Ohanaeze emphasized that the completion of the project demonstrates a commitment to addressing the region’s infrastructure deficits. They noted that the initiative could boost local economic activities, ease transportation, and improve overall quality of life for residents.
The organization also called for continued focus on similar infrastructure developments across Igbo-dominated states, urging the government to sustain momentum and ensure that other neglected projects receive the attention they deserve.
