Atiku Debunks Retirement Rumours, Says He Remains Active in Politics

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed reports suggesting that he has stepped away from politics, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Monday through his media office, Atiku refuted social media narratives alleging that he announced his retirement during a meeting with stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The statement clarified that the former Vice President has not held any recent national-level meeting with ADC stakeholders, except for a gathering with party members in Adamawa State last Thursday.

It emphasized that a decision as significant as retiring from active politics would not be communicated through unofficial channels or third-party sources.

“Such a decision, if ever taken, would be formally conveyed through the Atiku Media Office,” the statement noted.

The media team described the circulating reports as part of a coordinated attempt to misinform the public and create confusion within political circles. It alleged that the narrative was aimed at weakening momentum among supporters and distorting public perception.

The office further urged supporters, ADC members, and Nigerians at large to disregard the rumours and remain focused on national political engagement.

It also suggested that the spread of such claims reflects unease among those opposed to the growing coalition seeking political change in the country.

Atiku reaffirmed that he remains politically active, putting to rest speculation about his alleged withdrawal from public life.
