The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed reports suggesting that the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano is not functioning, insisting that the facility is fully operational.
In a statement issued on April 1, 2026, the Ministry clarified that the centre is actively running under its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET II – IDEAS) Programme, contrary to claims made in viral online videos.
According to the Ministry, no fewer than 300 trainees have been receiving hands-on training in areas such as Leather Works, Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installation, and Hospitality since November 2025. Participants are also supported with funding and monthly stipends to enhance their learning experience.
To verify the centre’s status, a delegation from the 8th National Council on Skills visited the facility on March 30, 2026, confirming that training activities are ongoing and that all enrolled students are actively engaged.
The Ministry further revealed that businessman Aliko Dangote has committed to managing the centre for the next 20 years, with plans to expand its capacity to accommodate more trainees.
The clarification follows concerns raised by social commentator Bello Galadanchi, who had alleged in a video that the centre was inactive and called for its revival.
However, the Ministry urged the public to ignore misleading information and rely on official updates, reiterating its commitment to promoting skills development and improving access to vocational education nationwide.
