The Federal Government has announced plans to construct a new student hostel for medical students at the University of Lagos, located near the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
The three‑storey, self-contained building will feature 168 rooms, each accommodating two students, significantly expanding housing for medical students. The project is part of a broader effort to increase the number of trained doctors and nurses in Nigeria and is expected to be completed within 24 months.
University officials and contractors highlighted that improving student accommodation will help address one of the major challenges faced by medical students in Lagos and support the government’s goal of boosting the healthcare workforce.
