The government of Yobe State has announced that 416 newly qualified nurses and midwives will be offered immediate employment to help strengthen healthcare delivery across the region. The decision was made public at a recent graduation ceremony for the Shehu Sule College of Nursing Sciences in Damaturu, where the state’s leader expressed commitment to improving medical staffing levels.
The batch of successful graduates includes community nurses, basic nurses and midwives, and holders of Higher National Diplomas in nursing. Officials said the hire is part of ongoing efforts to close staffing gaps in hospitals and clinics, allowing the state to provide better access to quality health services.
Authorities highlighted that consistent backing for the nursing college over several years has yielded a steady stream of trained health workers, and urged that this approach will enhance patient care in facilities across the state. They reaffirmed that bolstering the health sector remains a top priority for the administration.
