Governor Siminalayi Fubara has applauded the contributions of the National Youth Service Corps in improving healthcare delivery across rural communities in Rivers State.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch A Stream II corps members at the orientation camp in Nonwa-Gbam, Tai, the governor highlighted the impact of the scheme’s health outreach programmes. He described the initiative as a meaningful intervention that has brought essential medical services closer to underserved populations.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Fubara noted that the growing number of corps members posted to the state reflects increasing public confidence in its stability and governance. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting young graduates and creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.
The governor also encouraged the newly deployed corps members to take full advantage of the orientation programme and actively contribute to national development during their service year.
Earlier, the state coordinator of the NYSC, Moses Oleghe, praised the corps members’ readiness to make a positive impact. He added that the scheme continues to equip participants with practical skills that foster independence and personal growth.
However, he appealed for improved accommodation facilities at the camp, citing the rising number of corps members assigned to the state.
