Tensions within the Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have prompted urgent efforts to restore unity, with Minister of Works, David Umahi, taking a leading role in calming the situation.
The internal disagreement, which stems from competing political interests among key stakeholders in the state, has created unease within the party and raised concerns about possible divisions ahead of future elections.
Umahi reportedly stepped in to engage relevant party actors, urging them to embrace peace and resolve their differences through constructive dialogue rather than confrontation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and protecting the party’s collective interests.
Other party leaders have also appealed for restraint, encouraging members to prioritise unity and avoid actions that could further deepen the rift. They noted that internal stability is crucial for the party’s strength in the state.
Efforts are ongoing to reconcile the conflicting sides, with consultations expected to continue until a lasting resolution is achieved and normalcy is restored within the party structure.
