Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken a formal step toward seeking re-election in 2027, with his Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured on his behalf.
Hon. James Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency and leads the Tinubu Support Groups, collected the forms on Tuesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
The documents, priced at ₦100 million, were handed over by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu.
The move signals the start of Tinubu’s internal campaign within the ruling APC as he aims to clinch the party’s presidential ticket for the next general election.
This development comes in line with the updated electoral timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the passage of the Electoral Act 2026. According to the schedule, presidential and National Assembly elections will take place on January 16, 2027.
Party primaries are expected to hold between April 23 and May 30, 2026, including the resolution of internal disputes. The APC has already adjusted its timetable to meet these deadlines, with presidential primaries likely to occur in late May.
Official campaign activities for the presidency are set to begin on August 19, 2026.
