Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced that the ongoing construction of a modern market project is expected to be completed by January 2027.
He made the disclosure during an on-site inspection of the facility, where he assessed the level of work done and interacted with engineers handling the project.
Fubara said the market is part of his administration’s efforts to improve commercial infrastructure and provide traders with a more organized and conducive environment for business activities across the state.
He explained that the project was designed to reduce street trading and improve urban order, while also boosting economic activities within the area once completed.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the pace of work so far and urged the contractors to maintain standards that will ensure timely delivery of the project within the agreed schedule.
According to him, the new market will play a key role in supporting local trade and strengthening the state’s economic base when it becomes operational.
He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that directly impact the lives of residents and promote sustainable development across Rivers State.
