Osun Breaks New Ground as Governor Adeleke Launches Africa’s First AI-Focused University in Modakeke

Osun State has marked a major milestone in education and technology as Governor Ademola Adeleke officially laid the foundation for Africa’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) University—Curators University—on Friday in Modakeke.

Curators University is poised to revolutionize tertiary education in Nigeria and the continent at large, with a curriculum centered on cutting-edge disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence with a Machine Learning focus, Data Analytics, Computer Hardware Engineering, Database Administration, 3D Printing, Arbitration and Conflict Resolution, and Polymer Science.

Represented by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, Governor Adeleke emphasized the significance of the project in aligning with his administration’s five-point development agenda. He praised the initiative as a transformative step toward educational reform and youth empowerment in Osun State. “This university is a landmark achievement that underscores our commitment to advancing education. I urge all stakeholders to ensure that it ranks among the best in Nigeria academically and culturally,” he said.

The university’s founder, Mr. Olusola Amusan, highlighted the importance of fostering Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to elevate tertiary education and drive national development. He advocated for strategic utilization of federal education endowment funds and loan schemes through collaboration with private entities to deliver high-quality, future-ready education. “If the government partners with us, we can empower youth and strengthen Osun State’s economy through AI-driven education,” he stated.

Planning Committee Chairman, Barrister Abimbola Amusan, echoed this vision, describing Curators University as more than a school—it will be a global center for innovation, employment, and long-term economic growth. With its foundation now established, Curators University positions Modakeke and Osun State as pioneers in AI education, setting the stage for a new era of skills development and technological advancement across Africa.
